Upstream Analysis
By AMO
The “upstream analysis” function lists the items used in the calculation formula of an item and searches for their definition. This iterative approach allows you to “visualize” a payroll rule.
The data used comes from the export of LBT-SQL.
Each payroll item is presented here following the HR Access coding:
And a bit more
The tool allows processing a batch of items: simply list them, separating them with spaces:
This produces a tab for each processed payroll item:
By checking the “Display item qualifiers” flag, the qualifiers are listed in front of each item:
“Qualifiers? It’s for the experts of the experts!”
Indeed…
But in a properly maintained configuration, the qualifier FRPELMIND indicates that it is possible to enter the item in EV, to modify the behaviour of a rule. Therefore, it is highlighted in the analysis as follows:
To meet a specific need, namely “identifying if a payroll rule applies prorated part-time”, a broader option has been implemented: spot the presence of a payroll item in a rule.
Here, the item W00 is positioned in front of item 2P6, and indeed, W00 is used in the calculation formula.
Similarly, it is possible to determine where in a payroll rule a specific contribution base is used, or even compare its usage with a second contribution base:
On each analysis tab, the contribution base is highlighted as follows:
Meanwhile, a summary tab is generated:
